We returned to Tashkent after our southeast Asia trip and 10 days later, left for the US, where we have been living since.
Lena quickly got a job as a program assistant for Central Asia at IFES. I have been working at IREX on the DC side of the same program I managed in Uzbekistan. As IREX has been suspended by the Uzbek government, we have spent much of the last month figuring out how to save the program, which we have accomplished.
We are currently living in a subletted apartment on Capitol Hill in DC while I am looking for a permanent job.
Some highlights of the last couple months:
Lena and Kia in front of the Capitol.
Kia alone on the Capitol steps.
The Washington Monument from the Capitol.
I call this "Kia in Autumn".
We visited my sister and brother-in-law in Salisbury, Maryland over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Lena and Kia at the Capitol.

Hey Ari and Lena, good to know that you've moved to DC. I wish you all good luck at your new place. Life's in Bishkek is crazy from time to time, but we're still surviving:)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
